St. John's wort red oil is made from St. John's wort flowers (Hypericum perforatum) in pharmacopoeia quality. The flowers are traditionally collected from St. John's Day (June 24) and preserved in olive oil. This produces the valuable red oil.
St. John's wort red oil can be used to treat inflamed scars and irritated skin after radiation or laser therapy.
Midwives recommend perineal care with red oil in preparation for childbirth as well as for scar care after perineal or caesarean sections.
Dosage
If necessary, apply to the perineum, skin or scar and massage in.
