The raw material contained in Pure Encapsulations® Astaxanthin is extracted from the Hawaiian blood rain algae. Astaxanthin belongs to the group of carotenoids, of which there are over 600 different types in nature, and is responsible for the red coloration of crustaceans, among other things.
